Honolulu Church of Light
Ceremonies by Rev. Alice Inoue
Ordained in 2001

Rev. Alice is a minister of the Honolulu Church of Light located in Kalihi Valley, Honolulu Hawaii. She is licensed by the state to perform wedding ceremonies in the state of Hawaii.

Message from Alice regarding your ceremony:
It is important to me that your ceremony is exactly the way that you want it. I can do a simple traditional ceremony, or we can work together to create an elaborate ceremony just for you. It can be short or long, casual or formal but most importantly, it must be conducted in a manner that is special and perfect just for you.

I can perform a Non-denominational, Spiritual, Christian, Buddhist (includes the san-san-ku-do), and mixed or multidenominational ceremony. I also perform vow renewals, ceremonies that involve your children and second marriages. To help to structure and create your ceremony, I offer a variety of vow options to choose from (see downloadable documents below) which make it much easier.

If you would like to light unity candles, do a sand ceremony, have a friend read a poem, present leis to your parents, or surprise your future spouse with a song in the midst of the ceremony I can make it flow effortlessly and seamlessly.

Creating Your Wedding Ceremony
Once you have reserved your wedding date and time with me, and you are comfortable with my policy (see below), please review the downloadable documents.

Ceremony Sequence: This describes the flow of my ceremonies however you can adjust it in any way you are most comfortable.

Vow Options: You are welcome to choose any of these vows or use these ideas as a base to create your own.

The Gift of Your Hands: This is a poem you have the option of choosing that I have had much success with.

Questionnaire: This is what I use to create your ceremony. Please have this filled out as best you can at the time of our consultation, and fully completed and sent to me at least two weeks before your ceremony.

At the four month mark, after I have confirmed my services for your ceremony, we can make an appointment to meet for a 30 minute consultation at my in-town office to go over your ceremony preferences. You will receive directions to my office once we confirm your ceremony.

If you would like to get a feel for me, my personality and presence prior to reserving my services, please view the video “Who is Alice?” on the main page of this site. If you are unable to view the video on-line, please contact me and we will be happy to send out this same information to you on a DVD. Please provide your mailing address and note “Request Rev. Alice’s DVD.” Our office will send it out within a week.

You will know right away after viewing this video if I have the “right” personality for you. If not, I invite you to visit my Recommended Ministers page to find someone perfect for you. Every minster has their own policy, style and method so I invite you to inquire with them directly.

My Policy
In recent years, my long term calendar has become a bit harder to pin down due to my increased commitments. If you are interested in booking me to officiate your ceremony, I am not able to give you a final confirmation if your wedding day is over four months from now. I am however, able to reserve the time and day (if no one else has already reserved it) and at the four month mark, give you a final confirmation.

I realize that this brings up a lot of anxiety and worries about the possibility that I will not be able to confirm your special day. I want to assure you that I will honor your reservation and do everything I can to schedule around your day. If it is impossible for me to do so, I have a plan in place that hopefully will put your mind at ease.

Should I not be able to confirm your ceremony at the four month mark, I have asked for the support of both Rev. Rick and Rev. Mel (fellow ministers from my church) to be my “back-up.” Both of them have been training with me to perform wedding ceremonies. We have the same philosophy and spiritual background. They have adopted the same format, use the same forms and have the same ceremony options that I offer to all my couples. In this way, you will have a minister secured for your special day in the same style as I would provide.

However, if neither of them resonate with you, there is my Recommended Minister list to also pursue and I will follow through to make sure that you secure a minister that you are comfortable with.

Deposits and Payments
I do not take deposits. I hold the day for you if you have reserved it. If you reserve me, and then later find another minister you prefer more, just let me know and I will open it up on my calendar. There is no penalty even if we have confirmed and have already had our consultation.

Payment received before the ceremony is performed (e.g. at the rehearsal) unless you have someone taking care of handing out payment on the day of your ceremony. I accept cash or a check made out to Alice Inoue. I can also accept payment by credit card. You can choose to pay on-line through my shopping cart, or call in your credit card to one of my assistants.

To check the availability of your wedding day:
You will be mostly working with Marie until your date is confirmed. To start the process, please email Rev. Alice through her contact page with your wedding date, time of ceremony and location (or as much information you have at this point). We will respond as soon as we can to at least let you know if the date is reservable. If so, you will receive an email asking for further information, after which you will receive an official reservation letter with the final confirmation date listed (four months before your ceremony).

At the four-month mark (or sooner if Rev Alice knows she will for sure be able to officiate your ceremony) you will receive a final confirmation letter, at which point, Rev. Alice will contact you directly to set up your phone (if you are out of town) or in-person consultation.
